Carlo Barsotti began working on restoration projects during the 1950s, when little attention was paid to safeguarding Italy’s building heritage during the frenzy to rebuild. Carlo, the company’s founder saw things differently, and ventured into business, specialising in the difficult art of restoration in the countryside around Lucca, an area dotted with six hundred beautiful historic villas, as well as little clusters of houses, hamlets and aristocratic residences that make up a landscape which is the only one of its kind in the world.

This decision, ahead of its time, was rewarded when the economic boom was followed by a period during which natural and environmental heritage was valued more carefully.

Barsotti Costruzioni has its own high quality plant and fleet of vehicles, including trucks, excavators, crane lorries, cranes, cement mixers, garages and warehouses. see the Equipments

The company’s reputation, ability, equipment and capabilities have resulted in ongoing collaborations with the major public authorities and institutions. These clients know that we are always ready to intervene and can be relied upon even in the case of natural disaster.

During the early 1980s, under the guidance of Carlo’s son, Sauro, and on the strength of its experience, the company not only expanded operations in its own sector, but also moved into the field of public and private housing, also using futuristic restoration techniques which are now used in the maintenance of large industrial complexes or hydroelectric power plants. The company always remained true to its principles, and was rewarded by constant growth and expansion, a result of its ongoing commitment to research and innovation.

The immense archaeological heritage that still lies beneath Lucca also allowed Barsotti Costruzioni to develop its experience in the field of archaeology, to the extent that it is now one of the most skilled and organised companies of its kind.

Certified according to CSQ – ISO 9001:2000 and SOA Rina standards, Barsotti Costruzioni has its own technical department staffed by surveyors and engineers, its own administration department, approximately 40 members of staff (almost all of them are highly specialised and qualified), with separate warehouses for new materials and those recovered from historic buildings, which are carefully selected and restored by expert craftsmen in suitable workshops.
